We are looking to appoint 2 Locum Consultant Anaesthetists for a period of six months initially. One post is to cover Maternity absence and the second is to facilitate service expansion. There will be no on-call duties initially but on call activity can be accommodated for interested candidates by mutual agreement after interim review.
This post will be based at the William Harvey Hospital site in Ashford, Kent, where the successful applicant will join a team of 45 other full time consultants and permanent members of staff and a full complement of trainees.
The William Harvey Hospital covers General Surgery, Breast, ENT, Maxillofacial, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Trauma and Orthopaedics and Ophthalmology. It is the pPCI centre for the whole of Kent and Medway and is about to become a pilot site for stroke thrombectomy. The hospital runs a 7 day service for trauma cover in addition to 24/7 emergency lists. There is separate ICU on call rota staffed by 11 consultant intensivists manning a 15 bedded ICM.
All permanent anaesthetic staff currently contribute to some form of weekend working and this would be expected of the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will have ideally have FRCA or equivalent and be on the Specialist Register. Equivalent levels of qualification and experience will also be considered. Satisfactory communication skills, including English language and an understanding and experience of the legal context for medical practice appropriate to the post are essential.
